Kirishima International Concert HallCompletion Date:1994
Kirishima International Concert Hall is an 800-seat chamber music facility in southwestern Japan. Sited within a mountainous tree grove and blessed with magnificent distant views of the Kirishima Mountain range, its approach sequence heightens anticipation by highlighting the best natural views along the journey from the exterior landscape to the hall interior. The Hall itself is a based on the classic shoebox form but deformed into a leaf-shaped plan with a ship’s keel cross-section to better diffuse and reflect stage sound, enveloping the audience with sound.
